Deep Dive

Part 7: Back-up and Restore Presets

What is Auracle for X-Series?

Auracle for X-Series is the free control software that allows you to set up and configure your iConnectivity audio and MIDI Interfaces. In this new video series, we’ll be walking through all the features of Auracle for X-Series so you know exactly how to set up and configure your interface.

In this video, we’ll be taking a look at the Presets page, and specifically how to back up and restore presets on a MioXM and MioXL using Auracle for X-Series.

Before we dive into today’s video make sure you’ve downloaded Auracle for X-Series and installed it on your computer.

Entering the Presets Page

With your interface connected to your computer, click the Presets button to enter the Presets page. Please note that currently only the Mio X series interfaces support the back-up and restore functionality included in Auracle for X-series.

Understanding the Presets Page

The Presets page is laid out with a simple and easy-to-use interface. You can save and load presets and backup and restore presets from this page. In this article, we’re going to look specifically at the ability to back-up and restore presets. In a previous article, we discussed how to save/load presets using this screen.

Backing Up Presets

To get started, click the “Backup Interface Presets to File” button in the Backup/Restore section.

Next, click the “Select Presets” option to choose what presets you want to backup.

You’ll see a list of all available presets in the drop-down. The amount of presets shown, depends on how many presets are available on your specific interface. In addition to presets, you’ll see the option to backup all your presets. This is most likely the option you should choose, to backup all presets on your interface.

If you want to only backup a specific preset, you can choose that preset in the list. This is helpful in case you’re providing remote support for someone and only need to share an individual preset with them. In that case, find the preset in the dropdown and click to backup that specific preset.

You’ll see a drop down that allows you to name your preset. Once you’ve named your preset, hit “Save” to save a sysex file of your preset(s) to your computer.

In my example, I’ve saved my preset on my desktop.

Restoring Presets

Now, with our preset saved, let’s look at restoring presets. With our sysex preset file saved on our computer, click the “Restore Interface Presets From File” button in the Backup/Restore section.

With the file window open, navigate to where your preset file is saved on your computer. In my case-the file is saved on my desktop. Once you find the file click on it and click “Open” to open your preset.

Use the Backup feature to frequently back-up your presets and to provide remote support for others using MioXM’s and MioXL interfaces.

Creating an RTP/MIDI Network
