AUDIO

Section 1: Scene Selection.

On the PlayAUDIO12(PA12) you can connect 2 computing device to the interface using the front USB-B Device Jacks (USB 1 & USB 2). These Jacks correspond with Scene A and Scene B.
The PlayAUDIO12 was design to be able to switch from a Main computer (Scene A / USB1) to a Backup computer (Scene B / USB2).
In basic term SCENE A = USB 1 and SCENE B = USB 2. The option to select these and modify routings will be available in the top left corner of the audio page for the PlayAUDIO12 in Auracle X.

Note: that Scene A is green and Scene B is red when selected. This is also the same for the scene button on the touch panel on the front of the PlayAUDIO12. This LED is locate in the top left of the touch panel on the front of the PlayAUDIO12.

Audio Section 2: Outputs | Headphones.

For the PlayAUDIO12 you have 2 options for the routing layout in Auracle X.
1) Outputs 1-10 + Headphone Mix (default option)
2) Outputs 1-12

In the Headphones option you will get access to volume levels for 10 outputs on the back of the PlayAUDIO12 + you will get all those 10 outputs into a mix going to your headphone jack on the front fo the PlayAUDIO12.
The headphone mix can give you different level of your choosing without affecting the main outputs on the back.

Note: option in Blue is the selected option.

Audio Section 3: Analog Outputs

Depending on the option selected you can have 10-12 outputs in this section. This section represents the 10 physical outputs on the back of the PlayAUDIO12 (in headphone mode) OR 10 physical outputs on the back of the PlayAUDIO12 + the headphone jack on the front used as 11-12.
In this section you had the option to increase and decrease the level of your outputs using the fader knob handle OR by type the exact Db (decibal) amount into the field below the fader.
Under the Db number you will also see a mute button incase you want to silence an specific, or multiple, output(s).
Note: When you mute an output you will still see the level in the level meters along the level (fader) control slider. This is good to see levels before allowing the audio to be “live”.

Audio section 4: Headphone Mix (only if headphone mode has been selected in top right corner).

The headphone mix section will be locate right under the 1-10 Analog outputs and will be in line as to show the same 1-10 outputs from your DAW/computing device will show in both.
The Headphone mix will show a Headphone Out (stereo) fader/meter which is controlling the output of the headphone jack on the front in this mode.
You can create a mix of the 10 outputs from your software to that headphone mix.
New features in this section from the Analog section include: Panning, Solo and Stereo options.

Under the DB type in slot you will have a slider that moves left and right. If you move this slider all the way left you will note the number under the slider says -127. This means you’ve panned the signal from the output to the left side (ear) of you headphone mix.
A negative number means it’s going left and a positive number means it’s going right. Centre = 0.
This pan number can also be typed in to get an exact number much like the Db number for the levels.

The Solo button sits under the mute button. This button will allow that channel only to be heard and silence the others.
You can do a multiple solo. If you click the solo button on multiple channels you can mute all the rest of the channels except the few solo channels you want to hear.
This is great for finding a weird sound or a way of finding the right sound for making adjustments in a mix.

Stereo button: This button will take 2 mono channels in the headphone mix and make them stereo. This will properly send the audio to the left and/or right as it should in you headphone from those 2, originally, mono feeds. It will pair channels in pairs starting with 1-2, 3-4, and so on.

Audio section 5: Sample Rate, Bit Depth, Clock Source

For Sample Rate you will get 4 main options which should be following by the sample rate of any other audio gear in your setups.
44.1K, 48K, 88.2K, 96K

Note that 88.2K and 96K will remove the headphone mix.

Note that 88.2K and 96K will remove the headphone mix.

Bit Depth: You will have 2 options which must be followed by all software and hardware connected in your rig.
16 bit or 24 bit. (If you use studio One or some other softwares you may see 32 bit in there, which will work.)

The next option is Clock Source.
This should be left on internal for 95% of users as it’s important to not select a clock source when using in a redundant manor.
Users with 1 computer only may use this to have the clock source specifically be USB 1 but that is often not needed.

If you make any changes to one of these three field you will need to restart the PlayAUDIO12 for the change to take place. You will see this warning after changing any of these options.
