Chris Stack: How Does heConnect?
Chris Stack creates electronic music mixed with other instruments. He’s skilled on a whole lot of them, including Middle Eastern acoustic instruments – which (among other musical activities) he plays for the local belly dance scene in Asheville, North Carolina!
Chris has a long background with synths: “I first got turned on to [Wendy Carlos’] ‘Switched on Bach’ in the sixth grade.” That led to a stint as the marketing manager at Moog.
You can hear Chris’ first album, “Xenography,” here: http://chrisstack.bandcamp.com/releases.
Being one of our number one fans, Chris shows in this video how he uses the iConnectAUDIO4+ as the hub to connect computers running Apple Logic Pro X, high-res audio, 5-pin and USB MIDI, mics, speakers, headphones… all of it.
There are several other videos on the Experimentalsynth site and the YouTube channel using our interfaces in different applications, but you can hear our mic preamps in the video linked above. You’ll excuse us for being proud of how they sound even in online video, which is pretty good but certainly not CD quality.
For live appearances, Stack uses an iConnectMIDI2+ on his Mac Book Pro, running Logic Pro X mainly but also Ableton Live. His performances are usually electronic, ambient, and improvised, with different combinations of instruments every time.
